The violin has been taken from western music and adopted first by Carnatic music and then by Hindustani classical music. In this album, one of the best known exponents of violin, N Rajam presents her recital through the sophisticated violin technique she picked up from her talented father. Her flawless technique is rooted in the gayaki ang and she begins her recital with raga Devagiri Bilawal. She renders a vilambit gat in ektala and moves onto a madhyalaya gat in teentala. Her second rendition is in raga Patmanjari. She presents alap and jod and then moves onto a madhyalaya gat in rupaktala, followed by a madhyalaya gat in ada chautala and finally, a drut gat in adachautala. |
