The album features rarely heard or achop ragas by Classical doyen Bhimsen Joshi. These ragas are lesser heard as they were not a part of the major repertoire of a gharana. But they are as wealthy in terms of richness of form or ethos. This album begins with Bhimsen Joshi's recital of raga Bageshwari-Bahar, a rare and subtle blend of ragas Bageshwari and Bahar. It is followed by raga Hindolita. This is a melange of ragas Hindol and Lalit, both adding their individual strength and beauty to the new raga. The album concludes with raga Jaijaiwanti-Nat, a blend of the two ragas it is named after. In this the singer retains the distinct flavours of the individual ragas to create a unique evocative power in the new raga. |
