| This album presents a collection of live recordings of the greatest living legend of the bamboo flute Hariprasad Chaurasia as he renders traditional raga Kaunsi Kanhra. Born of the asavari thaat or scale, dhaivat and nishaad, along with a shuddha madhyam and rishabh. A raga of the night, its vadi and samvadi swaras are madhyam and shadja respectively. The maestro begins this album with a detailed alap and jod which is followed by a brilliant layakari in a gat in Rupak, a cycle of seven beats. |
