The album features the doyen of Hindustani classical Ravi Shankar in a different mood as he renders the ragas of spring and monsoon. The sitar maestro begins the album with a mellifluous sitar rendition of the famous and much-loved raga Mian Ki Malhar, in which he plays the alap, jod and jhala. He moves on to portray the beauty of raga Sindhura, a raga of the Kanhra family, which evokes the mood of spring. The album concludes with a rendition of Mishra Kafi with a brief alap in thumri style. |
